Like all the products in Chub’s Outkast range, this 1-man shelter is made from fully waterproof material which comes with a 10,000mm hydrostatic head rating. This is adequate to withstand many times more than the UK 24-hr rainfall record, allowing you to observe dark clouds on the horizon but not care about them one bit. At the other end of the weather spectrum, we all know how tent material can trap and amplify the heat of the sun but the included Back Draft Ventilation means you are able to keep the air flowing and the good times rolling along.
Its 2-rib, 4-section design makes for compact transportation and hassle-free set-up and, to aid packing up at the end of the session, an oversized carry bag is included. A lightweight groundsheet helps to keep the weight of the whole shelter down to a manageable 6.6kg. Some welcome little extras are also included, such as a rod strap to help with rigging the rods, a mesh storage pocket, and chunky T-pegs that can be used over and over again without bending out of shape.
There’s plenty of room inside for an angler and their tackle, with dimensions of 2.6m x 2.05m x 1.38m (W x D x H), and if you don’t fancy staying at home once the leaves start to fall you can add to the shelter’s capability by purchasing an overwrap with included door. Heat and water have a nasty habit of producing vast quantities of biting insects too, but this open-sided shelter also has a Mozzy Overwrap available to keep them out. Both of these add-ons are sold separately.
Not quite a bivvy and not quite a brolly, the Chub Outkast Shelter nonetheless provides a great deal of versatility for members of the carp and coarse fraternities who are looking to keep dry and comfortable in the sunnier months of the year.
